The first program under Manufacturing Skills Queensland’s Skills Invest Program has been announced. Delivered by Strategix Training Group, more than 30 individuals are expected to gain skills and a pathway to a job in manufacturing with this comprehensive pre-employment course designed to create inclusive pathways into the manufacturing and supply chain sectors.
The innovative initiative, developed in collaboration with industry leaders Programmed and CEVA Logistics, will equip participants with essential skills needed to thrive in Queensland’s growing manufacturing industry.
MSQ’s chief executive Rebecca Andrews, emphasised the importance of addressing critical skills gaps in the sector.
“Labour shortages and skills gaps are among the biggest challenges impacting our manufacturers,” Rebecca said.
“This program is funded through our Annual Training Plan and directly supports our commitment to building a sustainably skilled workforce for a future-proofed manufacturing industry in Queensland.”
The 10-day intensive course, delivered at the Strategix Skill Centre, will offer participants a comprehensive entry-level skill set including Manufacturing General Induction, Forklift License certification, competitive systems training, and essential workplace health and safety procedures. The program also incorporates crucial soft skills development, including resume building and interview preparation.

The Skills Invest program, launched by MSQ, provides flexible funding to deliver accredited training that meets industry needs and addresses critical skills shortages in Queensland’s manufacturing industry. The program ensures more workers have access to essential competencies, skills sets, and qualifications delivered by reputable training providers.
With expected outcomes including increased productivity of new workers and streamlined recruitment processes for manufacturers, the program has already attracted significant interest from Queensland’s manufacturers seeking to fill entry-level vacancies.
