WorldSkills Australia is proud to announce Manufacturing Skills Queensland (MSQ) as a new sponsor for the upcoming WorldSkills Australia 2025 National Championships and Skills Show, set to take place in Brisbane in June. This partnership marks a significant step in promoting and developing manufacturing skills across the nation.

The WorldSkills Australia National Championships is the country’s premier showcase for vocational education and excellence in skilled trades and technology. With MSQ’s support, the event will further enhance its capacity to nurture and celebrate Australia’s most skilled young people.

MSQ Chief Executive, Rebecca Andrews, said the partnership was an opportunity to showcase the innovation and career potential of manufacturing to Australia’s next generation of skilled workers.

“Our involvement will enable us to promote this prestigious competition to industry partners, bringing greater recognition to manufacturing as a highly skilled and innovative sector. By supporting this event, we’re not only investing in the future of Australian manufacturing but also helping to showcase the incredible talent and potential of our young tradespeople to a wider audience.”

“We need more opportunities to celebrate manufacturing in Queensland, and to spotlight the important, dynamic and rewarding careers available. Manufacturing is a cornerstone of our state’s economy, driving innovation and creating sustainable jobs across various industries.

“As the host of the Gateway to Industry Schools Program for Advanced Manufacturing, we’re excited that this event aligns with the Brisbane Careers and Employment Expo. This presents an excellent opportunity for our students and teachers to gain deeper insights into trade skills and careers,” says Rebecca.

By showcasing the industry through events like the WorldSkills Australia National Championships, we’re opening doors for young people to discover the cutting-edge technologies and diverse career paths within manufacturing.

WorldSkills Australia Chief Executive Officer, Trevor Schwenke, welcomed MSQ as a partner, noting their involvement would be pivotal in elevating the profile of manufacturing skills and attracting more industry participants.

“This collaboration allows us to showcase the cutting-edge technologies and innovative practices in manufacturing to a broad audience. By bringing more manufacturers into the fold, we’re creating a richer, more diverse competition that truly reflects the dynamic nature of Australia’s industrial landscape.”

“The 2025 National Championships is set to be the biggest such event yet, with over 600 competitors from across the country competing in more than 60 skills. The atmosphere inside the event will be electric, with competitors going head-to-head, the audience participating in interactive Try’aSkill booths, and the excitement of Skills Show Australia, where young people can discover their future career.

“Our industry partnerships are integral to achieving our mission and we are thrilled to welcome MSQ on board at this pivotal time for the Nation’s skills future.”
