Practical support to help your business meet its obligations and build a safer, more respectful workplace.

Every Queensland manufacturing workplace deserves to be safe, respectful and free from harassment. Sexual harassment and sex or gender-based harassment are recognised workplace health and safety risks that can cause psychological and physical harm, disrupt teams, damage productivity and expose businesses to legal and reputational risk.

Since 1 March 2025, Queensland persons conducting a business or undertaking, including employers, must prepare and implement a written prevention plan where a risk of sexual harassment or sex or gender-based harassment has been identified, and control measures are needed. A prevention plan is not just a complaints policy; it is a practical risk management tool that helps businesses prevent harm before it occurs.

Manufacturing Skills Queensland, in partnership with Workhaven, is offering a Sexual Harassment Prevention workshop designed specifically to help Queensland manufacturers understand what is required, identify workplace-specific risks and take practical steps to meet their obligations.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

  • Understand your duties and the steps required to prepare, implement and review a prevention plan.
  • Identify the real risks in your workplace, including risks linked to work processes, workplace culture, site layout, shift patterns, power imbalances, customers, contractors and work-related events.
  • Develop a plan that is practical to implement, meaningful for workers and clear about expected behaviours, reporting options and response processes.
  • Strengthen prevention measures across all work settings, including production floors, offices, off-site work, training, work events and interactions with third parties.

WHY ATTEND?

Led by a leading professional in workplace sexual harassment prevention, the workshop will provide practical guidance, real-world examples and an opportunity to test your current approach against contemporary expectations. Participants will leave with greater confidence about what a prevention plan should include, how to consult with workers, how to document control measures and how to ensure the plan is accessible, understood and regularly reviewed.

For manufacturers, this is an opportunity to move beyond generic policies and build a prevention plan that reflects the realities of the workplace, supports respectful behaviour and helps protect workers, leaders and the business.

WHAT YOU WILL WALK AWAY WITH

By the end of the workshop, participants will have practical tools, clearer direction and greater confidence to take the next step in strengthening prevention in their workplace.

  • A clearer understanding of what a sexual harassment prevention plan needs to address.
  • A practical starting point for identifying and documenting workplace-specific risks.
  • Guidance on consultation, communication and review processes that support implementation.
  • Ideas for effective controls that are relevant to manufacturing environments.
  • Greater confidence to assess whether current policies, procedures and practices are sufficient.
  • A stronger understanding of how prevention planning can support safer, more respectful and more compliant workplaces.
