The Queensland Government makes a significant investment in the training needs of industry and Queenslanders every year. Through the User Choice program, the Queensland Department of Employment, Small Business and Training contributes towards the total cost of training for apprentices and trainees.

The nature of the industry is dynamic, and as industry priority changes this needs to be reflected in the investment strategy of the department. In some cases, there may be a case to increase funding applied or fund, and therefore subsidise training for a new qualification. Conversely, from time-to-time industry will reduce its reliance on a qualification, and therefore it may be appropriate to reduce the funding allocated to this qualification.

Manufacturing Skills Queensland is coordinating industry feedback on the qualifications currently funded under the User Choice program. We would like to understand your views on continued funding for some qualifications, whether new qualifications should be considered (and why), and whether funding applied to less-in-demand qualifications could be reallocated.

After collecting advice from industry, Manufacturing Skills Queensland will make a single coordinated submission for the department to review.

Manufacturing Skills Queensland welcomes input from all stakeholders involved or impacted by the availability of funded qualifications. To have your say you can make a submission.

We welcome submissions from employers, unions, industry groups, training organisations and other stakeholders in, and supporting the sector. Use the submission form below to lodge your submission.
