We believe that diversity is a strength

Manufacturing Skills Queensland’s Inclusivity in Manufacturing initiative will not only enhance productivity but also create a more inclusive and supportive work environment for all. By integrating people with disabilities into our workforce, we are building a stronger, more resilient industry for the future.

Inclusivity in Manufacturing Workforce Program

The Inclusivity in Manufacturing program aims to improve recruitment and retention of people with disabilities in Queensland’s manufacturing industry. Connecting jobseekers with a disability with employers who have existing vacancies, could shift the dial on the employment profile of people with disabilities and improve productivity for manufacturers. The program will provide a multi-faceted approach in response to this challenge.

Funded by the Queensland Government’s Workforce Connect Fund this initiative will support 100+ people with disability and 50 employers in creating inclusive workplaces.

In partnership with Queenslanders with Disability Network (QDN) and BenchOn, the program will feature a co-designed workforce matching platform to connect jobseekers with vacancies, ensuring accessibility and tailored support such as flexible work arrangements. Employers will also receive guidance on redesigning roles and adopting inclusive hiring practices.

Using technology to further inclusivity

A key feature of the program will be a workforce matching platform, co-designed by Queenslanders with disability to ensure it is inclusive and accessible. The platform will be mobile optimised for people with a disability, with video and audio job application functionality, combined with text. The platform will support employers place job opportunities and use an algorithm to match attributes, personality traits, transferrable skills and environment suitability.

With both a job seeker and employer interface, the platform will enable job seekers to list their availability, and employers to post employment opportunities.
