Manufacturing great leaders – learn the skills to lead

Manufacturing Skills Queensland’s (MSQ) Leadership in Manufacturing Masterclass Series, in partnership with AiGroup, is designed to develop leadership and management capabilities of Queensland manufacturers across critical areas including:

  • Strategy and leadership
  • Innovation management
  • Transitioning to net zero
  • Cyber security.

Queensland business owners, employers and managers are invited to take part in MSQ’s first masterclass series held in Townsville, Ipswich, and Brisbane from February to April 2024.

What you’ll learn

MSQ’s Leadership in Manufacturing Masterclass Series will cover four modules:

Strategy and leadership

Actionable strategies and leadership approaches to adopt for your manufacturing business and workforce, including:

  • How strategy execution works
  • How to create a strategy in rapidly changing conditions
  • The challenge of combining strong leadership and management
  • Leading people mindfully
  • Building a supportive and positive organisation through leadership
  • Dealing with adversity.

You also have the opportunity to access a three-month, one-to-one coaching program designed to address key opportunities and challenges in your workplace.

Innovation management

Designed for leaders who believe there is a better way. This module covers immediately actionable guidance on increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of your innovation and research and development activities, plus:

  • How to establish purpose and strategy-driven innovation priorities
  • Allocating resources and monitoring progress
  • Capturing the voice of your customer and forming insights for innovation opportunities
  • Translating concepts into technical specifications and developing solutions and prototypes
  • Scaling-up to production
  • Creating a self-sustained innovation culture in your business.

You also have the opportunity to access a three-month, one-to-one coaching program tailored to support your specific innovation needs and guide you in progressing your innovation roadmap.

Transition to net zero

Drive innovation, create a sustainable journey of transformation and reduce your business’s carbon footprint by learning how to adopt low-carbon approaches, including:

  • Exploring the carbon jargon
  • Shifting paradigms and why manufacturing businesses need to act
  • Organisational versus product carbon footprints
  • Setting climate targets and aligning with customer values
  • Emission reduction opportunities
  • Developing decarbonisation plans
  • Greenwashing and becoming carbon neutral under Climate Active
  • Where and how to start the net zero journey.

You also have the opportunity to access a three-month, one-to-one coaching program tailored to support your business needs and guide you in progressing with your net zero journey.

Cyber security

Build your understanding of digital and cyber security concepts with this module:

  • The current cyber threat landscape: who are they, how they think and what they want
  • Which cyber issues and risks have the most financial, reputational, and legal impact on your business?
  • A risk management framework-based approach to cyber resilience
  • How to assess and address supply chain cyber security risks.

You also have the opportunity to access a three-month, one-to-one coaching program tailored to support your business needs and guide you in the development of your cyber security plan.

The Masterclasses

MSQ and AiGroup will lead one-day workshops across each module of the program in Townsville, Ipswich and Brisbane – allowing time to implement strategies between workshops.
