Investing in the future of Queensland’s manufacturing industry

Queensland’s manufacturing industry plays a crucial role in our economy and daily lives. As the industry evolves and grows, we need to ensure our investment in training and skills keeps pace, supporting manufacturers to innovate and stay competitive.

In 2025, Manufacturing Skills Queensland (MSQ) will release its Annual Training Plan (ATP) for 2025-26. Building on the inaugural ATP, we want to test and build on investment to support industry to address critical skills and workforce challenges into the future. To develop an ATP that will deliver the biggest impact, we want to hear from leaders, professionals, and experts in industry—your input is vital and will help us focus our efforts.

Consultation Process

Our consultation process includes three key parts:

Part 1: Manufacturing Industry Outlook Event Series 2025

Join us for an exclusive series of Manufacturing Industry Outlook 2025 events. Gain valuable insights into the current state and future of Queensland’s manufacturing sector while contributing to the development of our Annual Training Plan (ATP) 2025-26.

Event Highlights:

  • Comprehensive overview of manufacturing trends, challenges, and opportunities
  • Interactive workshops to shape the future of skills development
  • Networking opportunities with industry leaders
  • Complimentary breakfast for in-person attendees

Our Maryborough and Brisbane events will feature Keynote Speaker: Dr. Jeff Wilson, Director of Research and Economics, Australian Industry Group

Our Rockhampton event keynote speaker to be announced. 

The Australian Industry Group will present a comprehensive analysis of Queensland’s and Australia’s manufacturing sector at the Manufacturing Industry Outlook 2025 events. This presentation will cover the economic landscape, industry trends, sector-specific insights, challenges and opportunities, skills and workforce development needs, policy implications, future projections, and Australia’s global competitiveness in manufacturing.

The presentation will set the stage for an interactive workshop where attendees can contribute to shaping MSQ’s Annual Training Plan for 2025-26, ensuring that the manufacturing industry in Queensland is well-prepared for future challenges and opportunities.

Can’t make it to an event? Share your insights through our comprehensive online survey. The survey will be available throughout the consultation period and covers key areas such as workforce challenges, skills gaps, and future industry needs.

We welcome detailed submissions from businesses, manufacturers, Registered Training Organisations (RTOs), peak bodies, government, and other stakeholders. Your in-depth insights are invaluable in shaping the future of manufacturing skills development in Queensland.

Make a submission: Provide a detailed submission outlining your perspective on manufacturing skills needs, challenges, and opportunities.

Manufacturing Skills Queensland will collect your information when you attend a forum in person or online, complete the survey or make a submission to the discussion paper.

Manufacturing Skills Queensland is using an online survey tool to facilitate the discussion paper.

Information collected by Manufacturing Skills Queensland through this process will be dealt with in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Your name may be used to attribute ownership of your comments or submission unless indicated that you wish to remain anonymous, use a pseudonym, or make a confidential submission. Please note that, if you choose to remain anonymous or use a pseudonym, Manufacturing Skills Queensland may place less weight on your submission.
