Manufacturing Skills Queensland’s (MSQ) Manufacturing Centre of Excellence opened its doors on 9 July for a Showcase Day that highlighted the state-of-the-art facility’s role as a hub for innovation, collaboration, and hands-on skills development in the Wide Bay region.
The event brought together manufacturers, educators, students, job seekers, and community members to experience live demonstrations, tour the facility at 73 Nagel Street, and explore opportunities in Queensland’s manufacturing sector through a dedicated manufacturing expo and career zone.
MSQ Chief Executive Officer Kris McCue said the strong turnout demonstrated the community’s commitment to manufacturing excellence.
“Seeing manufacturers, students, and community members come together to explore our state-of-the-art equipment and engage with industry demonstrates the collaborative spirit that will drive our industry forward.”
The Showcase Day featured interactive demonstrations of advanced manufacturing techniques, opportunities for visitors to connect with employers in the career zone, and tours of the Centre’s flexible training spaces equipped with cutting-edge technology.
“We heard from attendees throughout the day about the importance of having a facility like this in Maryborough.
“The Centre of Excellence is available for industry training, school visits, community engagement, and manufacturing demonstrations—it’s a resource for the entire Wide Bay community and beyond,” said Kris.
The event follows MSQ’s launch of its 2026-27 Annual Training Plan earlier in the day, which outlined a $5.1 million investment in workforce development to address critical skills challenges facing the manufacturing sector.
“Events like this showcase the real opportunities available in manufacturing and help us build the sustainably skilled workforce our industry needs,” said Kris.
The Centre of Excellence is now available for bookings.
The Manufacturing Centre of Excellence is supported and funded by the Queensland Government.
