The Gateway to Industry program fosters strong partnerships between schools and industry, enabling member schools to offer students practical, industry-relevant learning experiences and training. By collaborating with industry, the program equips teachers with the skills needed to better support students in exploring careers and pursuing opportunities, including school-based traineeships or apprenticeships.

Beyond supporting school-based vocational education and training (VET), the program provides teachers and career advisors with the latest career and training information to help guide students toward informed decisions about their future. Additionally, the program offers numerous professional development opportunities to ensure teachers maintain current industry knowledge and expertise.

Gateway to Industry Schools Program application process

Expression of Interest
The school submits an online Expression of Interest (EOI) to participate in the program. The Project Manager, in collaboration with the Department of Trade, Employment, and Training, will evaluate the program's capacity to accommodate a new application.
Application
If the program has available capacity, the Project Manager will provide a link to an application form. This form will evaluate the school’s subject and VET offerings, as well as its overall capability to qualify as a successful Gateway School. In the event that the program is full, schools will be notified of their placement on a waitlist and will receive updates regarding the next intake.
Memorandum of Understanding
A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) will be issued between the Advanced Manufacturing Gateway to Industry Schools Project service provider (MSQ) and the school.
Program access
Successful schools will receive a login for the online platform (Manufacturing Matters) and receive opportunities to participate in Gateways programs.
